The American Retirement Education Series — workshop in session with attendees and presenter

IN RETIREMENT, REAL KNOWLEDGE IS YOUR BEST ASSET!
Are you ready to make the best decisions?

"Retirement Doesn't Come With an Instruction Manual"

The rules around Medicare, Social Security, and the IRS are complex, and often overlap. A choice made in one area can directly impact the others! That's why I created the American Retirement Education Series — a three-part workshop designed to give our community clear, actionable information to make confident, well-informed retirement decisions. Each session builds on the last, so plan to attend all three dates. This is not the typical FREE-MEAL seminar disguised as a sales presentation. Your retirement deserves more than a sales pitch! This is actual hands-on education and training on these topics. We will have some light refreshments, but come prepared to learn! And I make time to answer your questions. My promise to you: This will be time well-spent.

🚫 NO SALES HAPPEN AT A.R.E.S. TRAININGS!

Three-Part Workshop

What You'll Learn

Session 1 —Social Security

Thursday, October 1st

You have many options when filing for benefits. Which options are best for you? Not knowing could lock you into lower benefits, AND lower cost-of-living adjustments, for life! Understanding those options can help you make better decisions for yourself and your household. This session will train you to:

  • Maximize benefits for your household - don't just look at the benefit amount.
  • Understand how spousal benefits really work - some spouses can file twice!
  • Understand how still-working affects your benefits.
  • Understand how benefits are taxed - it is different than ordinary income!
  • Know when and why to delay benefits, and the guaranteed increase you can have.
  • Protect a surviving spouse from unintentionally receiving less.

Session 2 —Medicare

Thursday, October 15th

Transitioning to Medicare can be daunting. This session helps you understand the system, what questions to ask, and how to evaluate your options. Medicare is a good system if you know how it works. This session will train you to:

  • Understand what Medicare covers and does not cover.
  • A, B, D, G...? Learn to navigate the alphabet soup of Medicare.
  • Know the uncovered elements and costs in Medicare, and when the IRMAA surcharge applies.
  • Understand the differences between Medicare Supplement (or Medi-Gap) and Medicare Advantage coverages.
  • Learn the absolute best way to evaluate prescription drug coverage for the lowest costs.

Session 3 —Taxes in Retirement

Thursday, October 29th

Like it or not, the IRS is a partner in your retirement savings, and could also be your largest beneficiary! You MUST know the tax rules that affect your nest egg! We explore ways to mitigate, delay, or minimize taxation throughout retirement. Understanding the rules can help you avoid costly mistakes. This session will train you to:

  • Know the three types of money in retirement and how each is taxed differently.
  • Properly examine your company retirement plan options after leaving work.
  • Avoid common rollover mistakes, most of which are irreversable.
  • Know how inheritance rules differ for spouses than for your other beneficiaries.
  • Analyze if Roth conversions are really worthwhile for you?
  • Understand how company stock in your retirement plan has special rules that could lower taxes on that stock.

My first degree is in education— I love to teach! In 25 years of working with retirees, I know firsthand how complex the rules are around Medicare, Social Security, and the IRS. Unfortunately most people must figure them out on their own. These topics are deeply connected. A choice made in one area can directly impact the others!

I'm a local guy, and it has been my privilege to help many local families plan smarter and retire better. I want to bring that same clarity to as many households as I can.

You'll not only gain insight into the "rules," but learn how to apply them in real life. And I make time to answer your questions too!

My promise is simple: this is not a sales pitch for an investment product or an annuity. NO SALES happen at my trainings! It's real retirement education—free to attend, packed with value, and time well spent!
